Rythum Bear was created entirely with Artoonix except the audio drum solo which I wrote in ModPlug Tracker, converted it to a wave and then imported it into Artoonix Audio. The animation contains 68 frames with no tweening.
The bear is not exact, but had a rythum to its lumbering walk which inspired me to write a matching drum solo. Rythum Bear is not on YouTube yet but will be with in the next few days.

Nice one.

I've a large collection of free music-making software, but a really good one for making drum-based rhythm tracks is Hammerhead Rhythm Station.

http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/

You can save as wavefiles and the creator has released several other interesting music, rhythm or effect-making programs. Eg:

HOTSTEPPER

DRUMBOX

MORON SOUND STUDIO (DOS but runs with windows)

LEAFDRUMS

DRUMSYNTH (also useful for sound effects)

TS-404 (an old program but fascinating to use for short loops)
http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/ts-404.shtml

and so on and so on .......

But if you want freaky, weird, unique and totally fascinating ...... look for SAWCUTTER by a different creator. I LOVE this program and I used Artoonix to make some demos ...

SAWCUTTER 1 (Freeware)

... and proving that you can use it to create or transcribe melodies ....

SAWCUTTER 2 (Shareware)

Sawcutter and Hammerhead also feature in this demo:

Thanks KayNine for telling me about the nice rythum software.
I actually wrote note for note, base drum, cymbols, snare and hi-lo drums.
I worked hard and long on that tiny piece of music. ModPlug Tracker has no preset instruments to create blocks of music. It's- write your own music, note for note using instrument wav files. In other words, cook it up from scratch.
It took me nearly a month to create Rythum Bear and the drum music.

Glad the list helped - you'll have to go a long way to beat HAMMERHEAD RHYTHM STATION for creating longer drum patterns. There are additional drumsets and resources that can be freely downloaded as well.

Another, very subtle drum machine is DRUMFLOW v1.70 which (I think) is still free for non-commercial use.

It is very simply to use and when you dig into it, you find all sorts of additional and easy to use controls for altering the dynamics of rhythms, beats and hits. It's great fun and well worth looking at.
