I don't remember seeing an Artoonix animation in which a mask was probably used, so I decided to see how easy it was.

I made a short demo of a 3d fish and rendered it as an avi with a plain but opaque background. As this was 260 frames in length, there was no way I was going to work through every frame using the eraser to make the background transparent.

I used masks to create the illusion of a complex foreground and background.

In the movie, I briefly show and explain the main stages before showing the final result.

In the end, I was pleasantly surprised how quick and easy it was to work out how to make and use masks in Artoonix. This really is a great program!
