When I am done editing in the frame editor, I click on “Back” and to go back to the project directory. A warning window asks if I want to save the changes and gives the options of “Yes” and “Cancel”. The cancel option only cancels the window display. In effect, you are forced to accept the "Yes" option which will save all your changes made in both the object and frame editors.

I would like to be able to exit the frame editor WITHOUT saving any of the changes and revert to my original file.

I know that if I anticipate that I might not want to save the changes, I could first copy the project to a working file and edit the working file. Then if I didn’t want to save the changes, I could just delete the working file.

But it would be handy to be able to exit the frame editor without a save if there were “Yes/No/Cancel” options. This could be accomplished by the Artoonix program opening a temporary working file and, on exit, committing changes to the permanent file only if the “Yes” option were selected.

This is something that I also mentioned way back when I started to use Artoonix - and it's still something that I find frustrating now.

I was recently working on a project and was happily working through a lot of changes and developments, but eventually realised that I'd taken a wrong turning. There were only three options ---

(1) to use a heck of a lot of Undo's.
(2) to try to find the place in the HISTORY window which would take me back to the point where everything went awry (not always easy and can lead to a lot of to-ing and fro-ing)
(3) to use 'Back' and thus save the project in an unwanted form.

I totally agree with ABQdave that it would be excellent to have the option to simply exit the editor without saving anything and without having to use (1) or (2). Even if you don't always want to use (2) to get part-way back, it is often better to start over again and a simple 'exit without saving' would accomplish that.

It does seem to be a strange quirk of Artoonix that it works in this way - I don't know of any other program that does things like this.

PS - Welcome to the forum ABQdave, it's good to have someone new here who posts useful messages. I look forwards to seeing your work in the gallery or wherever you choose to upload it.

Great idea ABQ! Plus, to dodge the problem of an "accidental deletion'' by pressing the wrong button you should add an extra choice like: "Are you shure you want to exit without saving?"

By the way: Welcome ABQ!
