Hey, folks
Can I safely download the latest version without compromising the projects I have open?
Will projects that I have stored away from Artoonix (in other "explorer" files and in my back-up drives )be compromised when I bring them back in?
just checkin' I think I know the answer.
thanx
ev

No problems are likely when you update, and certainly no impact on any files you store outside the main Artoonix folders. I do this routinely - I keep backup copies of all my movies on a second hard drive but usually delete all project files anyway to stop myself getting lazy and simply re-using sections of them (project files can also be VERY large).

The main consequence of updating will be to re-install all the demo projects (Zeppellin etc etc) if, like me, you have got rid of those once you don't need to refer to them anymore.

But - as ever - it is ALWAYS good protocol to back up everything before installing any new update ..... just in case you experience an event that proves to be the exception to the rule.

If you want to be ultra-careful (and that's always a good idea the first time you install an update), one tip that I've used in the past is to simply re-name the main Artoonix project and movie folder in 'My documents' (calling it sometrhing like 'Axbackup'). Then after installing an update, I move what I want to keep from 'Axbackup' into the project or movie sections of the new 'Artoonix' folder in 'My documents' and then delete the renamed file.

NOTE - I'm NOT referring to the Artoonix program folder which is presumably going to be in your 'Program Files' section of the hard drive.

Thanx KayNine,
Better safe than sorry, and I think it is good practice to discuss good protocol-better than learning the hard way.

Although it seems that sometimes learning it the hard way sticks better!

Hi, ev
just to confirm the kaynine's reply - update/reinstall will only affect the "demo" projects, nothing else. But it's always good to make back-ups.
cheers,
youri
